GORDON SHORT

Gordon has made Strongsville his home for over two decades and is a current Councilman (Ward 4). Gordon also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Economic Development Committee and Elected Trustee for Southwest General Hospital. 

Gordon is focused on bringing a strong foundation of his fiscal planning knowledge to House District 17. Gordon’s financial and client service background has crafted his appreciation for responsiveness and drives his empathetic tone.

Gordon received his B.S.B.A. in accountancy from John Carroll University and his Juris Doctorate from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University. He is a licensed CPA and Attorney in the State of Ohio.

His previous work experience includes the State Treasurer of Ohio, Ernst & Young, University Hospitals of Cleveland, and SS&G Financial Services. Gordon is proud to sit on the boards of the Strongsville Education Foundation. He was previously on the board of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad where he served as the chair of the Audit Committee. He is the current President of the Northeast Ohio City Council Association. 

Gordon, his wife, and their two children have lived in Strongsville since 2001.

COUNCILMAN GORDON SHORT

As a Strongsville City Councilman, Gordon is the current chair of the Economic Development Committee, and the city representative on the Southwest General Health System Board. Gordon has chaired the Finance, Public Safety, and Health and Recreation Committees as well as served as President Pro Tem during his tenure on Council. He has worked to maintain the city’s Aaa bond rating, saving Strongsville taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, as well as being a watchdog for taxpayers on city expenses.  He also serves as President of the Northeast Ohio City Council Association.

Gordon worked diligently to correct flooding in his Ward, by working with the administration to build a detention basin, ending the flooding of resident homes. Gordon worked to secure state and county funding for the Bowman/Fetzer sewer project, saving residents thousands of dollars in assessment costs. Furthermore, Short secured funding for numerous road repair projects in the Ward, notably Walnut Creek Drive, which residents had complained about for years.
